Three new stallions have joined the roster at Joneson Ranch in 2017 - Duke Kahanamoku, Jesscuzican and Send a Candy Guy.
Darian Burt's home-bred, Jesscuzican was named the Champion Aged Stallion in 2014. Trained by Wes Giles, Jesscuzican won or placed 13 times with earnings of $252,891. He won the Sunland Challenge Championship -G2 and the West Texas Futurity -G3. He was second in the All American Gold Cup -G1, Mr Jet Moore Handicap -G3 twice, and the Higheasterjet Handicap -G2.
A great physical type, Jesscuzican is one of 6 champions sired by leading sire Feature Mr Jess, who captured the Rainbow Futurity(G1) and tallied $539,327 on track.
Named for the long-celebrated father of modern surfing, Honalulu-native Duke Kahanamoku was an Olympic gold medal swimmer and Hawaii's beloved ambassador to the world through much of the first half of the 20th century. The equine Duke Kahanamoku hails from top Quarter Horse bloodlines, which endowed him with a powerhouse build.
